The Chamonix Mountain Festival will run from 1st – 8th June. By the time it is finished you “will have climbed some amazing routes, done some amazing tours, met some amazing people and scribbled down a note in your diary for next year’s meet!” … or so they promise and I am sure you will be hooked.
Chamonix is the world’s capital of alpinism. You must surely have heard of ‘Cham’? Avid climbers have been scrambling over mountains in this region since the 19th century when the first British pioneers and their French and Swiss guides arrived and made it the climbing mecca of the world. And the choice is enviable. You have rock climbing and bouldering, ice climbing and sports’ climbing. The selection of crags will keep you busy for a lifetime, let alone a week. You’ll be back for more before you know it!
This Festival is a gathering of mountain enthusiasts of all levels and ages. It is an open invitation to climbers, skiers and all mountain enthusiasts from all over the world to come and enjoy themselves at an event organised by mountaineers for mountaineers. You have a full week to sate your appetite on stunning Alpine climbing, ski touring, screenings and gear testings including talks and demonstrations.
Arc’teryx, DMM, Blue Ice, Idris Skis, Valandre and other top-of-the-range brands will be providing equipment to test and the days out will be accompanied by a great line up of talks and screenings.
The Festival has been going from strength to strength. So, don’t hesitate, it’s time to register! €60 per day includes accommodation, food – full board, everyday lift pass, info on conditions, gear testing, lectures, films… all that for just €60! There is no age limit and no climbing grade limit, you don’t have to be part of a crowd, you can book as a singleton, a couple, a crowd – whatever you want.
