re-sized tough guy challenge

Are you tough enough for this event?

This is how some people will choose to spend this Sunday, 31st July – participating in an event that is called: Tough Guy™ Ultimate Endurance Challenge. The original, the best, and British… though not restricted to the mad Brits. Competitors from at least 25 countries are expected to take part in the event.

About five thousand intrepid adrenaline junkies are expected to run through fire, crawl beneath barbed wire and dive into swamps… for fun. Is this the world’s most brutal Sunday afternoon sporting challenge?

Be warned, you do need to be fit for this race. The organisers warn that it is “uniquely fear ridden and you need to be fit in both body and spirit to survive the ordeal… Tough Guy is the ultimate endurance test!”

You can still register for it – today. Not tomorrow. Tomorrow you will be too late.

To see what you could be letting yourself in for watch the following video; it is the 2011 winter edition but the only major difference will be the weather:

The race starts at about 11-ish and will cover a course of approximately 8 miles. You have until 3 p.m. to finish it. Competitors must sign a “death warrant disclaimer” before taking part in the ultimate endurance race although organisers confidently claim this to be the  “the safest most dangerous event in the world and the safest most dangerous taste of mental physical pain and endurance on earth”!

So, what are you waiting for? You have a few hours left to register and I suggest you go directly to their site: Tough Guy

And why do it you might ask? Well, it is a charity event. All proceeds go to charities that support:  Heroes – Animals – Wildlife and Kids Off The Streets.

And you can wear what you want!

Brave man in his neon green Borat swimming suit!

The only thing that must NOT be worn are spiked or studded shoes as these could cause injury to other athletes. If you try to sneak a pair past you will be made to run barefoot!
