Yves Rossy flies the Grand Canyon

Staying aloft for 8 minutes, Yves Rossy, sponsored by Breitling, achieved a lifelong dream when, with his one-of-a-kind suit and jet-propelled wing attached to his back, he sustained horizontal flight above the Grand Canyon.

He launched from a helicopter 8,000 ft above the canyon and quickly achieved speeds of up to 190 mph. “My first flight in the U.S. is sure to be one of the most memorable experiences in my life, not only for the sheer beauty of the Grand Canyon but the honor to fly in sacred Native American lands.  Thank you Mother Nature and the Hualapai Tribe for making my lifelong dreams come true,” he said.

The 50-year old Swiss adventurer, nicknamed ‘The Jetman’, can now add the Grand Canyon to his already impressive list of first-evers which include flying around the Swiss Alps, crossing Lake Geneva and his 13-minute flight over the English Channel.

I wonder what’s next on his wish list?
